NDSU presents a concert inspired by former band director Orv Eidem.

North Dakota State University Department of Music is proud to present A Tribute to Orv, a concert inspired by the life of Orv Eidem on Tuesday, December 7 at 7:30 PM in Festival Concert Hall.  Admission is free.

The NDSU Wind Symphony will perform pieces that were loved by or inspired by Orv, who was the NDSU Director of Bands from 1970-1993.  Additionally, Orv’s children-Bruce, Steve, Dan, and Barb-will perform with the Wind Symphony and band alumni during the final piece, America the Beautiful.  This evening will be a celebration of a man who touched many lives through his passion for music.

Orv joined the music at NDSU in 1970 and conducted the Gold Star Concert and Marching Bands until 1993.  He also founded the NDSU Jazz program and taught music theory, low brass methods, and music education to hundreds of students.  He passed away October 14, 2010.

The Orv Eidem Gold Star Band Endowment Fund has been established to support the NDSU Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble.
