North Dakota State Women’s Volleyball Faces Minnesota In NCAA Division I Tournament

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State will play Minnesota in the first round of the NCAA Division I women’s volleyball tournament at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis.

The 64-team tournament field was announced live Sunday afternoon on ESPNews.
North Dakota State, 20-10 overall, has won four straight and nine of its last 10 matches. Minnesota has won seven straight to improve to 24-8 overall and earned the No. 10 national seed.

All-session tickets are $20 for reserved chairbacks, $17 for general admission adults, and $12 for general admission students and seniors. Tickets are available online at or by calling toll free 1-800-U-GOPHER. Single-day tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. Friday if available. Prices will be $12 for chairbacks, $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.

Friday’s 4:30 p.m. matchup in Minneapolis has Iowa State (20-8) facing Creighton (20-11).  The winners will meet in the second round Saturday. The second-round winner will advance to regional play Dec. 10-11 at the University of Washington in Seattle.  Dayton, Penn State and Texas are the other regional hosts. The national semifinals and championship are Dec. 16 and 18 hosted by UMKC at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.

North Dakota State qualified for its second NCAA tournament in three years by winning the Summit League tournament championship Nov. 20 in Fargo against IPFW.
Friday will be a rematch of North Dakota State’s first NCAA tournament appearance in 2008 when Minnesota swept NDSU 25-18, 25-14, 25-14 in Minneapolis.Ryan Perreault
