Friday’s 4:30 p.m. matchup in Minneapolis has Iowa State (20-8) facing Creighton (20-11). Â The winners will meet in the second round Saturday.Â The second-round winner will advance to regional play Dec. 10-11 at the University of Washington in Seattle. Â Dayton, Penn State and Texas are the other regional hosts.Â The national semifinals and championship are Dec. 16 and 18 hosted by UMKC at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.
North Dakota State qualified for its second NCAA tournament in three years by winning the Summit League tournament championship Nov. 20 in Fargo against IPFW.
Friday will be a rematch of North Dakota State’s first NCAA tournament appearance in 2008 when Minnesota swept NDSU 25-18, 25-14, 25-14 in Minneapolis.Ryan Perreault
