Emergency response test at NDSU

On Thursday, August 5th, NDSU in conjunction with state and local emergency services units will host an exercise to test the response capabilities of the agencies involved. This exercise will be conducted under the direction of the ND National Guard 81st Civil Support Team (CST) from Bismarck. The exercise will begin sometime between 7 am and 10 am.

The exercise will involve Ladd and Dunbar Halls on the NDSU campus. Facilities in the area of these buildings will also be included in the exercise as will campus streets. NDSU will work with campus departments to maintain normal operation during the exercise however, the goal is to create a real life scenario for the agencies involved in the exercise.

To create a real-life scenario, smoke screens, noise devices, and actors portraying victims will be used.

This exercise will serve to comply with annual emergency plan testing as required under the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), and will also be a part of the NDSU Ready Campus Imitative (RCI) Grant currently being administered jointly by the NDSU Emergency Management Program and the University Police & Safety Office.
